Normalizing Enlightenment

Inspired by a string of discussions I’ve had with close friends (Ryan, Walker, etc.), and through the reading and practicing I’ve done, I wrote an essay on GenSit entitled Normalizing the Big E. It’s an inquiry into what it would be like to treat enlightenment as something quite ordinary, instead of holding it as supernormal or as unattainable and unworthy of pursuit.

  1. This sounds like what the teachers I listen to tell me about spirituality.

I’ve also heard enlightenment called “Super-Ordinary.” I like that one.

The problem is usually in refering to oneself as enlightend. But aren’t we all? Leading to the proverbial question of Dogen, “Why do we need to sit?”
