Strategies and Standards. Goal #1.

I described my top four goals for 2006 earlier, and now want to share with you some my strategies (so the next four posts, one for each goal, sort of represent my overall strategy toward my strategies, or my meta-strategy).  I also have certain standards that I’m going to set now, and for each quarter of the year, that will give me an idea of whether or not I’m moving in the right direction with each of my goals.

Get Straight A’s & Graduate:  my strategy with this goal is pretty simple.  I’m going to attend all my classes, turn in all my assignments, and stay on top of things.  I know what it takes to make an A, and I just have to do it.  Here are my quarterly standards:

  • 1st Quarter (Jan-March):  This is half-way through my first semester.  I haven’t received many grades yet, so at this point it’s mostly a subjective measurement.
  • 2nd Quarter (April-June):  I will have received grades for my first semester at the end of May.  If all my marks are all in the A range (A- or above) then I know I’m on track.
  • 3rd Quarter (July-September):  Here again, I haven’t received any grades during this last semester.  Subjective measurement.
  • 4th Quarter (October-December):  In the final quarter I will have received my grades for my last semester, and should have graduated.  If I made all A’s in this semester too, then I will consider this goal to have been achieved.

I think it’s important to note, that in contrast to my other goals, this one is by & far the most time and energy consuming of the bunch.  Most of my effort will be spent with this goal.
