For the longest time, I’ve been trying to come up with a good solution for storing all of the highlighted material in my library. Highlighting everything and anything that really catches my eye has been a habit of mine for years. Now I’ve finally come up with a way to archive all of that information and have it digitally searchable.
What I’ve done is use the Google Notebook program and created notebooks (each one representing a specific genre, like Buddhism or Science/Tech or Psychology), and then under each genre I have individual books as section-headers. Finally, below each section-header are the specific quotes and the page numbers. This way my entire library (of highlighted material) becomes digitally searchable and reference-able from anywhere! I imagine this’ll be really helpful when I start having to write papers again.
The only problem has been how manually intensive it is to type in each book, especially for books that are more highlighter then text! So far I’ve managed to log in about 15 or so books. Granted I have tons more, I’ve at least gotten some of my most important reference material digitized.
Does anyone else have a method for digitizing written content and making it easily searchable?
