Spiritual Inquiry & Writing

Meditation

I’ve started a new process of spiritual inquiry, along the lines of what Adyashanti suggests, and which resembles the process of spiritual autolysis. The basic gist of what Adyashanti suggests is to hold a question in mind (one with spiritual import, not a mundane question like “what should i have for breakfast?), and then to answer that question in writing. The thing is, you only answer what you absolutely know, and then at some point you will find that you have exhausted what you know (or what you think you know) and then you basically have to rest with the question, waiting to write.

What Adyashant suggests is that if you rest in that dynamic tension, between knowing and not-knowing, the answer will continue to emerge. And so I’ve started this discipline and will incorporate it into my weekly practice, as well share some of these inquiries here on my blog.

A big part of my sitting practices these past few months has been the inquiry, “Who am I?” so in many ways this will be a natural extension of what has already been happening. I’ll be sure to let you know what I find. ;)
