Since I started tinkering with HTML back in the late 90s, I’ve designed and redesigned sites many many times. At first I did it because I enjoyed tinkering and playing with new ideas. Now—though that is part of my motivation still—I like to redesign things so that they echo what has changed on deeper levels and so that they can call forth a bigger and brighter vision from the site I’m working on. In this case, the site is my own, and I’ve made several changes to reflect some important shifts over the past year (since my last redesign).
Firstly, I’ve made the site a little less “Vince-centric” and more about the content itself. As such, I’ve changed the title of the site to Numinous Nonsense, though the website address is still vincenthorn.com. The reason I’ve shifted toward Numinous Nonsense is because while I’m certainly the driving force behind everything that is written here, the “brand” that I’m trying to communicate has more to do with the weird confluence of interests that I have which seem to converge mostly around 1) Integral Thinking, 2) Meditation, & 3) Technology. Though I write about other things, and will continue to share that stuff here, I’ve highlighted those 3 categories of writing, as being the most essential to what I’m trying to communicate here.
Also, I’ve highlighted the different “articles” that I write, which may or may not be on these topics. I do this because my blogging has shifted in the past several months, away from shorter posts toward more full-length articles that are fairly well researched and thought out. It’s a shift in quality and in quanity—I write less frequently due to the fact that I put much more into each post.
In terms of the back-end technology, I’ve updated to Wordpress 2.5 (I love WP!), and a brand-spanking new theme which I love. I’ve also re-designed the logo—though I’ll admit I’m not graphic designer! All in all, I like the new look, feel, and emphasis and I hope it serves my readers well (all 20 of you).

… and I hope it serves my readers well (all 20 of you).
Wait! There are at least 38 readers who have subscribed to this blog using Google Reader!

Ok, I’ll admit that I have a few more than 20 subscribers… A little false humility never hurt anyone. Did it?

It looks great, Vince, and it reads even better. Good work, buddy.

I agree with Hokai, it is much easier to read
In your post about the closing of Falling-Fruit you listed an email address to be contacted by. I tried to send you a condolence email but, it bounced back. So I guess I will say some of it here…
I was sorry to hear about Falling-Fruit closing. But I’m sure you will be back bigger and better. Good luck with your next project(s)

Oh and can I suggest a couple of wp-plugins for your blog that will potentially help your readers…Well at least one of them
“Subscribe to comments” and “Related Posts”.

Hi Loden,
Thanks so much for the condolences.
And also for the suggestions on wp-plugins. I’m always interested in new plugins!
Is the subscribe to comments plugin something that allows subscription to individual post, comment feeds? That would be very helpful.
Best,
-Vince

The Subscribe to comments is a plugin that will alert a user to follow up comments on an individual blog post. It will send me a email to say there is a new comment on a particular post.
I have it installed on my blog. Test it yourself if you like.
The great thing about it is I don’t need to come back to check to see if my comment has been commented on. I will be emailed once there is a new comment. Users can also select to be alerted or not!
Did any of that make sense? lol

As you can see, my first comment was at 6.18 yours 30 something minutes later. But it took me almost 2 hours to remember that I should check to see if you had left a comment. However, if you had this plugin installed I would have been emailed as soon as there was another comment to this thread. Very powerful functionality imo.

Hi Loden,
I just installed it and am testing it out. Seems pretty cool.
Update: Yes, the new subscribe to comments feature is working well. Thanks again Loden.
