Most of the changes won’t be obvious to you guys, but the backend is quite different. So far I like it a lot.

The one thing you will notice though, is that I’ve found a way to integrate my first two years of blogging (the blog I called Numinous Non-Sense) into this blog with the newest WordPress. If you look to the right, you’ll see my archives now extend back to
December 2003 (including both the posts and the original comments). I’d been trying to do this for a longtime now, and am so glad I finally found a way to do it.

And to a new beginning! This blog will officially stop in the next few weeks. At the end of September I’ll be leaving on retreat, and have decided that since I won’t be posted during that time, it might just make sense to finishing this blog altogether. But not to worry… I am starting a new project, which can be seen at www.vincenthorn.com.

VH.com has become my new blog project, where I’ll probably be shifting gears a little bit. Doing a little less posting (in terms of frequency), and will be shifting away from just integral/meditation stuff and will be explicitly exploring just about everything…. I’ll also be posting longer articles there, which I haven’t done so much here. Kind of practicing for being a stodgy, boring, academic you know?

In any case, please check out my new blog, and check back here until Sept 23…

Transformation is an elitist process: not necessarily elitist in terms of social or economic privilege (although that can help to free one’s energy for something more then mere survival) but elitist in terms of urgency and perspective.

This is a great article on a what post-postmodern approach to women’s issues would look like. She is basically suggesting that women (and men) need to go beyond postmodern plurality in order to continue pushing for “Women’s Liberation.”

From his first official post:

Feeling privileged to be included here at GenSit is one of the first things that crosses my mind in thinking of what to write. The second is wondering if I can keep up—as we ‘dinosaurs’ are not nearly as fleet of foot, or as adaptive, as homo technicalis seems to be. This is probably why you won’t see alot of links, associated images, icons, or those things called ‘tags’ (whatever the hell those are) in my initial offerings. What I do hope you will find are insightful, thought-provoking, sane, occasionally humourous, and decidedly heart-felt ponderings on the nature of living a (post)human life in the early decades of the 21st Century. - [GenSit.org]

Current is supposed to be a collaborative news source, where viewers can easily contribute to what is being offered. Apparently their main assumption is that, “Right now, at this moment in history, TV is the most powerful medium in the world.” Ummm, you ever heard of the internet? If it isn’t the most powerful medium in the world, it sure as hell will be, and probably by the time I finish writing this post! As Douglas Rushkoff, who was involved with the initial brain-storming of Current reflects:

It wasn’t a cable channel we were talking about, but a movement. And those of us who were ready to lend a hand - everyone from Steven Johnson to Scott Heifferman - were imagining something more like Feed.com or meetup.com than MTV. In fact, the whole idea of putting the thing on television seemed rather superfluous. Why not let this thing evolve more naturally online, where people can post text, photos, or video, and where collaborative filtering could be used to select front-page pieces?

I couldn’t agree more, and hope that maybe Al gets on board. For someone who said they had a hand in helping the internet become commercialized, you’d think he’d take advantage of the technology that he helped bring forth…
